Essential oil blend for vein support
Throughout high school and into college I was very active, often working out and playing volleyball for 4 hours a day. This drastically changed though once I got married and became pregnant with our son. Over time, this inactivity paired with my pregnancy caused the veins in my legs to appear a discolored blue and purple.
Essential Oils for Gorgeous Legs
Essential oils are great for so many things! I use them in my bodycare products, DIY laundry detergent and room spray. But they’re not just for cleaning. These oils pack a serious punch when it comes to keeping your body healthy. Be sure to check out all my diy bodycare product recipes!
Through my research these are the essential oils I’ve found that help keep veins healthy, strong and appearing smooth.
- Chamomile – supports a healthy inflammatory response and supports proper blood vessel constriction
- Cypress- strengthens and supports healthy vein walls
- Lemon- supports circulation
- Lemongrass – supports healthy circulation
- Rosemary- enhances circulation
- Geranium – positively effects the blood
- Ginger – stimulates healthy circulation
- Helichrysum – dissolves coagulated blood inside and outside of veins
- Frankincense- supports strong blood vessels and supports healthy circulation
Don’t Forget the Carrier Oil
While some essential oils, like lavender, can be applied undilluted on the skin, for this purpose it’s best to dilute in a carrier oil. This makes the oils stretch further and helps prevents skin irritation.
While olive or coconut oil will work, each carrier oil has its own benefits. Avocado and jojoba oil, while more expensive, are great for the skin. Since these are both very heavy oils, I’ve started mixing them with a lighter, faster absorbing oil like grapeseed.
Add some vitamin E oil for extra anti inflammatory properties and your in business. As an added bonus, vitamin E acts a preservative in this blend.
I’ve been applying this once a day. My legs are super soft and moisturized now! From the other recipes I’ve seen online these usually take just a month to see results and should be used daily for several months. To prevent sensitization use for 2 weeks, then stop for 1 week, repeating this cycle.
Apply as much oil as you need to comfortably cover your legs. I’m 6 ft tall and all leg so I’ll probably use a bit more than you will! Be sure to rub this up, towards your heart. This ensures you’re not rubbing the blood in the veins back down since the valves in the veins are supposed to trap the blood.
Essential oil blend for vein support and gorgeous legs recipe
- 1 Tbsp jojoba oil
- 1 Tbsp avocado oil
- 2 Tbsp grapeseed oil
- 1/2 tsp gmo free vitamin E oil
- 10 drops lemongrass
- 3 drops rosemary
- 3 drops frankincense
- 5 drops cypress
- 5 drops helichrysum
- 3 drops chamomile
- Combine all ingredients in a dark, glass bottle. A roller bottle works well too.
- Shake gently to combine and store away from heat.
You could really use any of the essential oils mentioned above, depending on what you have and what will work best with your situation. From what I’ve seen you should aim for 10-15 drops per ounce of carrier oil (source).
